“Cheval Kurt” — the most expensive house in St. Petersburg
One of my goals is to shoot all the iconic projects and locations in the cities where Whitewill sells real estate. Through photo stories, I try to capture the atmosphere and architectural details of these locations to help our clients find the right place to live or invest.
Before moving to Moscow, I lived in St. Petersburg. I remember going to the “22.13” restaurant on Konyushennaya Square. I worked there as a waiter. I’d run around with a tray, serving coffee and croissants. I’d jot down the tips I earned in a little notebook. During my breaks, I dreamed of a better life.
Back then, I rented a small room in a communal apartment at 108 Nevsky Prospekt. Rent cost 13,000 ₽ a month. I took the bus to work. From the bus stop, I walked along the Griboyedov Canal past the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. Every time, I’d turn toward my restaurant, passing the corner of a seemingly ordinary, classic building—the kind of which there are many along St. Petersburg’s embankments. Konushennaya Square, Building 2. On the first floor was a bar; above that—either offices or apartments.
Today, this building houses the most expensive apartments in the northern capital. And I’m no longer a young waiter, but a powerhouse in the world of luxury real estate. That’s why we met again—only now in different roles.
— I’m now the most expensive building in St. Petersburg—it’s a real pleasure.
— I’m Oleg, the owner of the best luxury real estate agency in Moscow.
The project is called “Cheval Kurt.” In the building’s logo, the letter “C” is shaped like a horseshoe as a nod to the site’s history—the square and its surrounding buildings were once part of the imperial stables.
Externally, the building’s facades have not changed significantly—it is a regional landmark and is protected by the state. The main changes are inside.
Spread across five floors are 12 spacious residences ranging in size from 260 to 630 square meters. This includes several two-level penthouses. All apartments come with finishes and interiors by Ralph Lauren.
Inside the building, residents will have access to a club lounge, a grand reception room, cigar and wine rooms, a private gym with a sauna and yoga studio, a beauty salon, and a massage room. Currently, only the club is ready among the common areas; the other areas are still being finished. Keys will be handed out next year.
The private courtyard is designed in the finest traditions of an Italian palazzo, complete with a winter garden. The building now features its own automated parking system. It’s best not to ask about prices—they’re as solid as the building itself.
The project’s developer is Vos’hod. In Moscow, Vos’hod is known for its clubhouses: “Armani Casa” in Zamoskvorechye, the “Bryusov” clubhouse, and the “Ahed” complex. The developer’s team is also working on the redevelopment of the Central Telegraph Building.
Work is in full swing inside the building. I was only able to take a few shots showing small parts of the project. We’ll get the full picture next photo season. What do you think?
