“Leontievsky Cape”—a white liner with a warm hue
One of my goals is to shoot all the iconic projects and locations in the cities where Whitewill sells real estate. Through photo stories, I try to capture the atmosphere and architectural details of these locations to help our clients find the right place to live or invest.
Usually, when I select ten photos for a post, I include a few shots of the facade, a few of the courtyard, a couple of close-ups of the house’s details, and one or two photos of the lobby. This time, I’ll show you an unusual lobby designed by Philippe Starck here, and the house itself will be featured in the photo selection in the comments.
Looking at Leontievsky Cape from the opposite bank of the Malaya Nevka, it seems as if a huge white cruise ship has docked at the shore. For St. Petersburg, where brick, granite, and stucco are the norm, this project looks quite unexpected.
The complex’s architecture was designed by the St. Petersburg firm “Studio 17” in collaboration with the British studio YOO, led by fashion designer Philippe Starck. This is their first project in St. Petersburg.
The architects wanted to ensure that such a massive complex would not appear heavy. That is why the facades were made entirely white. They are clad with 5,000 large-format Italian Fiandre slabs, manufactured specifically for this project.
The narrow joints create the impression of a monolithic surface, while the panoramic glazing and golden window frames add a sense of lightness. The flagship lobby, with its billiard tables and unusual furniture, is bathed in warm light reflected from towering yellow mirrors.
The style itself is hard to describe as minimalist or modern classic. There are no historical references or attempts to replicate 19th-century St. Petersburg. Instead, the design features high-end materials, unique furniture, and the feel of a luxury hotel lobby.
The house is surrounded by water on three sides. It has its own boat dock. Across the water is Krestovsky Island.
The building has been completed and is occupied. The developer still has several penthouses with terraces and scenic views available for sale. Whiteville brokers have a selection of apartments with views available for sale directly from owners.
On the secondary market, prices start at ₽600k per square meter. Penthouses with views, fireplaces, and terraces cost ₽1.4m per square meter.
