“Tipografiya” is a premium-class art cluster developed by RBI in the Central District of St. Petersburg, on Pravdy Street. This residential complex is housed in the building of the former Synodal Printing House—an architectural landmark designed by Dmitry Lyushin, an engineer of the Holy Synod, and built in 1888–1889. Lyushin’s eclectic style combines elements of late 19th-century industrial architecture with the classical style of St. Petersburg’s grand architecture, as well as Old Russian and Romanesque details on the facade.
The six buildings will house 179 apartments ranging in size from 18 to 119 square meters. The floor plans at “Tipografiya” include studios, units with skylights and mezzanines, as well as an exclusive two-level layout. Such a variety of apartment types is a rarity even for those looking for apartments in the historic center. Residents will have access to a private fitness center, a coworking space with a meeting room, and two green courtyards—an open-air art space and a private garden inspired by Japanese minimalism. The apartments are sold with a basic finish that leaves room for a personalized design project, while the lobby and courtyard preserve historical artifacts from the printing shop—Metlakh tiles, floor elements from the printing shop, and typographic typefaces.
By the early 20th century, the printing house was printing the Holy Scriptures and liturgical publications for the Russian Empire—a privilege held by no other entity besides the Synodal Printing House in Moscow. The magazine *Church Gazette* was also published here. The project thoughtfully reinterpreted this past: mirrored objects and the installation “Stencils,” featuring typographic letters, were installed in the courtyard.
Pravdy Street is off the beaten path, not far from the Five Corners—this spot rarely appears in guidebooks to St. Petersburg, although it’s only a 15-minute walk to Nevsky Prospect from here. It’s a 4-minute walk to the Zvenigorodskaya Metro station and a 26-minute drive to Pulkovo Airport. Sales for “Tipografiya” have already begun, and the developer plans to complete the building in the second quarter of 2028.
